Overview:

Position Summary:

The Health Education Coordinator will lead the Family Matters Program, working collaboratively with inpatient and outpatient staff, as well as representatives from community agencies.

The primary focus is on providing comprehensive education to patients and families about childhood cancer, blood diseases, and their treatments.

This role includes general health education aimed at minimizing the risk of negative health outcomes later in life.

The Health Education Coordinator will be a dedicated resource for division-wide educational activities, supporting daily educational opportunities and meeting the growing needs of faculty development, as well as coordinating all rotators, medical students, and Sub-Interns.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Family Matters Program, ensuring comprehensive patient and family education on childhood cancer and blood diseases.
  • Collaborate with inpatient and outpatient staff, and community agencies to provide effective education.
  • Develop and implement educational materials and programs tailored to patients' and families' needs.
  • Support divisionwide educational activities and daily educational opportunities.
  • Coordinate faculty development and educational activities for rotators, medical students, and Sub-Interns.
  • Utilize data management and reporting tools/software to track and report on educational initiatives

Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years full-time professional experience in development and coordination of instructional programs and materials for health education required.

Preferred hospital-based, pediatric health education experience.

Preferred health educational experience.

  • Proficient in data management and reporting tools/software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support fellows while maintaining accountability

Preferred Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with healthcare staff and community representatives.
  • Commitment to improving health outcomes through education.
  • Ability to create and manage educational programs that are engaging and effective.
  • Hospitalbased, pediatric health education experience preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in health education or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Master of Science degree in public health/health education preferred.
