What You Can Expect Working in the Field Service Technician Position:
The Field service Technician travels to customer locations to answer service calls for industrial, modular buildings, including blast-resistant buildings.

These customer sites include refineries and Petro-chemical plants, which require each technician to follow the guidelines and safety regulations of the plant.

Common repairs include door hinges, flooring, carpentry and HVAC issues. A service visit could take a couple of hours or require a week or more at a customer site. Outside of repairs, you will assist with installs and the demobilizing of buildings from a customer's site. At times, there is a need to utilize sub-contractors and you will be responsible for management of the project.


Field Service Technicians are integral in providing a great customer experience to ensure RedGuard maintains the status as a preferred vendor for our clients.

This requires prompt and accurate communication with the customer and Service Support.

You will provide a quality and positive experience for our customers, while creating efficient and cost-effective results to better the organization.


Responsibilities:


  • Assesses and repairs buildings to company and customer specifications.
  • Comprehends materials, components and makeup of the building to be serviced.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and provides prompt service.
  • Maintains parts inventory on service truck.
  • Manages subcontractors on job site.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • 6+ months of experience in a service or industrial setting, preferably refinery or Petrochemical industry.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certification [Medical Card].
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Must be able to travel frequently.
  • Some knowledge of the construction field, including skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or HVAC.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to operate forklifts, manlifts and aerial platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Journeyman trade license in one of the selected crafts.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the refineries and their relation to Turn Arounds, Outages and shutdowns.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. of materials or tools; able to work on roofs and at heights in excess of 8 feet or better, able to wear all of the designated proper PPE during an entire 10 to 12hour shift while on site; able to understand and follow all of the safety requirements including Lock Out/Tag Out, the proper operation of tools, equipment, vehicles and handling if materials.

Visual Acuity Requirements: 20/20 vision or correctable to 20-20 vision and able to wear (if needed) prescription safety glasses while on the job and operating equipment without having to wear contacts.


  • Work Conditions: Working in the four seasons of the year in the continental United States and Canada. Varying conditions from hot and humid to wet, cold and sometimes freezing temperatures.
