BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide sexual assault prevention education programs for academic institutions, youth groups and community organizations


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Act as a liaison between the Sexual Assault Services Center and the educational system
  • Develop and maintain contacts within the educational system and the community to promote prevention education
  • Develop and implement ageappropriate presentations and events focusing on issues related to sexual abuse/assault which include elements of identification, reporting and prevention
  • Provide supervision and support to volunteers providing prevention services
  • Provide direct service to victims of sexual abuse/assault
  • Participate in oncall duties
  • Represent GACS/Sexual Assault Services Center in academic, community and professional organizations
  • Submit all reports, oral and written, in an accurate and timely manner to as required by GACS and in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Structure and oversee volunteer activities related to prevention services
  • Organize and coordinate volunteers for prevention services
  • Communicate problems and issues within the Sexual Assault Services Center to the Program Director
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies
  • Assist GACS administration in any investigation against conduct that is illegal
  • Other duties as assigned

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Attend staff meetings, allagency and other meetings as assigned

QUALIFICATION:


  • Bilingual
  • Spanish
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work or a related field or three years experience in the areas of education or social work
  • Interest in women's issues
  • Forty (40) hours of ICASA approved sexual assault training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons served
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and proof of automobile insurance coverage
