SUMMARY:
Coordinate and manage all applicable and necessary aspects of F-16 flying operations at OCONUS operational non-US airfield(s).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs and manages airfield operations and management functions supporting F16 training and combat mission support sorties.
  • Coordinates with and advises local, national and international air traffic control agencies.
  • Coordinates with and advises host base Civil Engineering, Command Post and other base agencies to ensure maximum safe and efficient support of F16 flying operations.
  • Must be able to work in a primarily nonEnglish speaking environment.
  • Translators/Interpreters will be provided, but will not be available 24/
  • Coordinate and advise other host base personnel and agencies on the critical importance of FOD prevention, arresting cable operations and maintenance, runway and taxiway safety and security, etc.
  • Be familiar with Rapid Runway Repair options and operations.
  • Understand and be prepared to coordinate use of alternate surface operations (taxiways, highway strips, etc.) on short notice.
  • Be familiar with international airspace system, flight plans and ICAO procedures.
  • Be familiar with navigational aids and weather prediction and reporting.
  • Follows safe work practices and procedures and uses safeguards and personal protective equipment, as necessary and when required.
  • Reports any hazards or potential safety risks (such as unsafe situations and activities that could elevate risk to F16 flying operations) immediately.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing the customer with the needed advice and assistance.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

  • USAF 7level certification in 1C7X1 career field or other US Service equivalent
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to make sound administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to plan, develop and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as USAF Airfield Management (1C7X1), Air Traffic Control, or related AFSCs (or DoD equivalent from the other Services), or as a contractor at an airbase with fighter aircraft operations managing airfield operations functions.
  • Experience in OCONUS, nonUS airfield operations within the last 15 years is desired, but not required.
  • Experience with F16 flight operations is required.
  • A US Secret clearance is NOT required but is desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, walk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is required to regularly work in both office and outside weather environments.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and vibrations, and is frequently exposed to very hot or cold, wet or humid conditions.

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock.

The noise level is occasionally very loud.
