    Job Announcement:
Language Access is a foundation of Fairfax County's commitment to advancing racial and social equity.

Under the supervision of the Language Access Program Manager, this position supports the program by conducting fiscal analysis and support, managing data, records, communication, and information, as well as provides administrative support.

Completes billing reconciliation, manages vendor quotes and submissions, and contributes to the agency budget process by providing accurate reporting. Works within four data management systems to contributes to performance measures and outcome reporting.

Working knowledge of regulatory requirements regarding records management and retention.

Utilizes various communication mediums to convey program updates and pertinent information to internal and external partners, to include a working knowledge of SharePoint.

Coordinates translation requests and serves as back up for MA II and fills in as interpreter for last minutes requests.

Performs departmental administrative functions to support the overall operations of the program; performs other duties as required.


Note:

This position provides general administrative support in the assigned functional areas of public or business administration, and accounting.**Eligible employees certified as using a second language in their job (35% or more of their work time) may receive a foreign language stipend in the amount of $1,300 annually where scheduled work time is more than 20 hours per week ($650 annually when scheduled work time is 20 hours or less per week).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.


BRIDGE CLASS EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level.

This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level.

The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce.

However, persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The appointee to the position will be required to complete the following to the satisfaction of the employer:

  • Criminal Background Investigation
  • Child Protective Services Registry Check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years to less than four years of administrative support in finance, accounting, customer service and/or data entry.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Two years to less than three years in reconciling invoices, working with vendors and resolving billing discrepancies.
  • Capacity to multitask and meet various tight deadlines.
  • Three years to less than four years in customer service experience.
  • Ability to research and gather information from multiple sources.
  • Experience working in a juvenile or adult justice, probation, social services, human services, or court services setting.
  • Familiar with interpretation and translation services, in school, medical, conference, or court settings.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word.
  • Advance level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency using SharePoint.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with strong speaking, reading and writing skills in both languages.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Duties may be performed with or without accommodation.
