    Description

    Job Description:
    We are seeking a remote hands-on Head of Engineering to join our fast-growing startup.

    As the Head of Engineering, you will play a crucial role in shaping our technical direction, product vision, and lead a talented team.


    Responsibilities/skills:
    Lead and manage a team of engineers as well as support product management.

    Balance coding responsibilities with leadership and product management


    Architect, design, and implement scalable and maintainable software solutions using Ruby, Python, or similar languages on the backend, and modern frontend frameworks.


    Lead by example, demonstrating a low ego and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and dive into code with a balance on servant leadership.

    Collaborate with senior leadership to define and execute the company's technical strategy and vision.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.


    Proven experience (5+ years) in software development with expertise in Ruby, Python, or similar languages on the backend, and proficiency in modern frontend frameworks.


    Prior experience (2+ years) in a leadership or management role, with a track record of successfully leading and mentoring engineering teams.


    Strong understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments.

    Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for working in a startup environment, comfortable with ambiguity, and adaptable to change.

    Ability and willingness to communicate with C-Suite after 5pm at times. If looking for standard 40 hours weekly, this likely isn't the right role for you.


    This position is remote but we have an office in Nashville if you like to get out of the house from time to time.
