The purpose of this position is to design and specify cost effective, efficient, and code compliant office environment solutions


Office environments include:

system and freestanding furniture layout, the building's electrical and communication requirements to support the furniture and associated equipment, adequate restrooms, break areas, and conference rooms to support the occupancy of the building, and appropriate interior finishes and equipment.

This position maintains records of facility spaces, furnishings, and interior finishes for evaluation and support purposes, and also facilitates the establishment of building standards.

  • Responsible for office space planning, floor plans, and furniture diagrams and specifications for new and existing support facilities that involve furnishings
  • Developing office environment by working with internal customers to collect data to support overall outcomes, defining design requirements and layouts as needed for new support facilities and special projects
  • Communicating with involved parties throughout each project's life cycle
  • Responsible for managing a systematic, comprehensive approach to the office environmental design for Publix support facilities
  • Interact with furniture distributer specifiers/designers to coordinate design and ensure Publix requirements are met

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design with intermediate AutoCAD skills and
  • 3 years experience in commercial interiors, specializing in systems furniture design, and office layouts, utilizing AutoCAD and furniture design drawing and specification software
with
2 years experience with architectural design and cross-disciplinary experience as it relates to systems used in the office environment

  • Computer Aided Drafting Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of formulas and methods of measure used in developing floor plans
  • Intermediate knowledge of budgeting methodologies to estimate financial impact of recommended designs
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, codes, laws and regulations related to building design and interior office space
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles and methodology, life safety, ADA and associated ergonomics
  • Advanced knowledge of systems and freestanding furniture, and how to design and specify it
  • Knowledge of time management principles, drafting standards, good drafting and design techniques, principles and organizational structure
  • Advanced knowledge of telecommunications, computer systems, security, electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, building structures, and other facilities related services that impact office design
  • Ability to read architectural drawings: telecommunications, computer systems, electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC related to office design
  • Advanced skill in using AutoCAD, 2020 CAP Studio (furniture design software program) which includes 3D modeling, design and specification software for modular furniture
  • Analytical skills
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Interior Design/Space Planning skills
  • Leadership skills, independent judgment, and discretion
  • Ability to work in a customer service oriented environment and deal with all levels of Publix organization and related suppliers
  • Negotiation, problem solving, and communication skills and interpersonal skills (including social perceptiveness, persuasion, negotiation, and sometimes instruction)
  • Organizational, Time, and Resource Management skills
  • Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays and occasionally work overtime, nights or weekends to complete projects

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design with advanced AutoCAD skills and NCIDQ licensure
  • Experience with the following computer programs: CAP2020, Photoshop, and CET Commercial Design with Project Matrix
  • Five years experience in commercial furniture design, specializing in modular furniture design, and office layouts, utilizing AutoCAD and furniture design drawing and specification software
