Job Summary:


Raytheon's Air, Space and Defense Systems (ASDS), Mission Solutions and Payloads (MSP) business is seeking a Requirements & Capabilities (R&C) Associate Director, Strategic Systems with experience working with/for the U.S.

Space Force (USSF).

The Assistant Director (AD) will work in support of Mission Solutions and Payloads (MSP), Strategic Systems (SS) Program Area to identify new business opportunities, develop pipelines to support the 5-year plan, achieve Annual Operating Plan goals, manage new business funding and manage captures for targeted opportunities.

The SS program area focuses primarily on space payloads to meet the needs of the U.S. Space Force, Space Development Agency (SDA) and other related customers.

The AD will report to the Director of Requirements and Capabilities but will functionally support the SS program area director.

The AD will be accountable for annual bookings targets and developing strategies to win various competitive business pursuits valued up to $1B.

This position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule.


Responsibilities to Anticipate:


  • Pipeline Development: Develop, identify, and assess new business strategies and opportunities, and position resources to achieve growth objectives for the MSP SPC program area primarily focused on the Strategic Systems space systems payloads portfolio for pursuits that individually range from $25M$1B. Identify top pursuits and work to increase probability of award. This role is expected to expand the pipeline through adjacent growth.
  • Customer/Competitor Intelligence and Interactions: Develop relationships with key USSF, SDA and Intelligence Community customers; influence customer planning and clearly articulate customer needs MSP business leadership. Develop customer contact plans and create strategic messages. Understand competitive landscape and implications to inform capture efforts. Support, manage, and execute contact plans. Establish and grow working relationships with industry partners and expand adjacent markets. Attend customer meetings and forums.
  • Product Line Strategy Development: Create, analyze, and articulate innovative solutions to customer needs/problems that smartly leverage RTX's capabilities and technologies. Based on customer information, work with engineering to suggest white papers. Enable the Strategic Systems program area to meet growth objectives.
  • Capture Support: Develop and lead new business captures; develop pricing and win strategies, prepare gate reviews, ensure capture process compliance and transition to capture execution team. Lead RFI and BAA development activities. Manage overall strategy development, market analysis, customer call plans, and new business investments.

Portfolio Business Development:
Manage allocated budgets to yearly budgets. Prepare out year budgets.

Prepare material to support monthly growth reviews, BD Operations reviews, monthly status, and maintenance of pipeline database (ERPM) to manage the day-to-day business.

Oversee and guide capture personnel.

  • Travel: Domestic travel up to 25%

Basic Qualifications:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years' experience or an Advance Degree and a minimum of 10 years' experience working directly for or with DoD space acquisitions, operations, or policy, including senior level leadership responsibilities
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Space market
  • Demonstrated experience working for or with U.S. Space Force, US Space Command, Space Systems Command, or Space Development Agency
  • TS/ SCI clearance required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:


  • US Space Command, US Space Force, Space Development Agency, or Intelligence Community staff experience with focus on future architectures
  • Experience with the DoD budget and requirements process, as well as the Legislative Branch annual budget and policy process
  • Demonstrated experience with missile warning satellite systems
  • Acquisition experience within Department of Defense and/or the IC
  • Master's degree in Business Management, National Security, or engineering technical degree desired
