Description
The Golf Course Maintenance / Operators will perform landscaping and related services required to maintain safe and attractive grounds.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains cups, tees, fairways, rough, ball washers and related facilities Cleans and rakes bunkers.
- Operates a variety of small power equipment such as chainsaws, buffers, grinders, drills, solder guns, compressors, tapping machines, and other similar tools used in golf maintenance, construction, and repair work; performs minor mechanical repairs on such equipment.
- Operates equipment and other vehicles such as golf course tractors with a frontend loader attached, backhoe, trailered equipment, mowers, aerifiers, or other similar machines.
- Digs holes and trenches to maintain or construct irrigation and drainage lines; shores excavations; install and maintain irrigation pipe.
- Trims, prunes, and spray trees and vegetation.
- Plans and cultivates lawns, turf, or gardens and, based on designs, determines further work that should occur.
- Delivers and spreads topsoil and/or straw over newly seeded areas.
- Manufactures tee mat pads by construction forms, pouring, and finishing cement. Lays small asphalt, patches holes in roadways, cart paths around the facility.
- Where artificial turf is used, periodically replaces cushion pads; vacuums, and disinfects turf after use.
- Performs regular and seasonal maintenance on irrigation systems including any necessary winterizing procedures.
- Installs and maintains landscape work such as landscape timbers, flower beds, raking, digging, tree planting, pruning bushes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of grounds keeping and landscaping practices and procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Thorough understanding of how to care for various types of lawns, greenery, and plants.
- Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools required for maintaining grounds.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds at a time.
- Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
