    Job Summary:


    The Library Services Assistant position assists the Director of Library Services with all operations of the Library. This is a part-time, evening position: Monday Thursday 4:00 pm 10:00 pm and Sundays 2:00 pm 10:00 pm. (Hours vary slightly during summer and in between semesters.). This is a part-time position that may work up to 28 hours per week.


    Essential Functions:

    Supervise the library and student assistants in the evening and filling in for other slots as needed to ensure adequate coverage.

    Provide assistance to individuals and groups in locating and utilizing library materials, online resources and library equipment.
    Assist in the circulation of library materials.
    Provide routine receptionist, correspondence, clerical and recordkeeping services for the Director of Library Services.
    Assist in cataloging and processing materials for the library.
    Assist in the inventory of all library materials and equipment.
    Assist with managing and printing overdue notices.
    Assist with make-up testing, monitoring testing, managing test materials, and all other testing issues.
    Assist students with general online course assistance and general technical assistance.
    Assist with managing inter-library loan transactions and records.
    Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization.
    Comply with all College policies and procedures
    Assist the Director of Library Services by performing other related duties as assigned.


    Required Knowledge and Skills:
    Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Databases usage and Internet searches. Must be able to learn specific Library database systems.
    Proficient typing skills.
    Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
    Ability to work and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
    Good communications skills, both written and oral.
    Ability to organize and prioritize work. Work well under deadline pressures.
    Excellent human relations skills. Ability to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and diverse populations.
    Understanding of and commitment to higher education quality improvement.


    Required Education Background:
    Associate's Degree, required. Bachelor's Degree, preferred.


    Required Experience:

    Work experience in a library environment, preferred.


    Physical Requirements:


    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, reach and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; and ability to work on the computer for long periods of time.


    Work Environment:

    Work performed in a library environment. Evening and Weekend work schedule.
