Primary Purpose


Provides leadership and strategic direction for the Claims department including policies, processes, technology, and short/long term planning to mitigate risk exposure.

Provides direction and management in meeting the company's customer service expectations and in effecting fair and timely settlement resolutions on all 3rd party liability and/or recovery claims.

Provides effective leadership and direction in managing investigations and case reviews, employee training and development, and in communications with senior management.

Responsible for creating, overseeing and enforcing internal business controls, budgets and audits.

  • Responsible for examining operational processes to assess and mitigate claims risk exposure. Develop and implement effective controls, costeffective approaches to minimize risk, and loss forecasting measures. Establishes policies and manages all activities related to resolving thirdparty liability and/or recovery claims.
  • Provides effective leadership and direction in managing loss prevention and mitigation activities through the management of risk analysis of claims trends and various activities related to the damage prevention and awareness program. Develops and implements department performance measures. Oversees the development of department efficiencies.
  • Assesses and communicates information regarding risks with departments across the organization. Partners with operational leadership to implement effective claims risk mitigation initiatives. Partners with operations and customer services to implement customer risk mitigation education and engagement initiatives.
  • Works with the Law Department to develop litigation and major case strategies, and effectively manages litigation costs.
  • Oversees department administrative activities, including the development and management of loss reserves and of the claims budget.
  • Assesses and implements effective employee training and development plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).143,100 $214,700 / year)

Education

Bachelor's Degree in business administration or equivalent, or other related area is required.

Experience

10+ years of related experience, including claims experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership, teambuilding and motivational experience managing people is required.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to interact with outside attorneys and insurance companies regarding the settlement of claims, and represents the Company at court hearings regarding claims cases.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary for communication with attorneys, courts, Executives, business unit employees and customers.
  • Requires seasoned operational, political and financial judgment
  • Strong decision making skills required
  • Must possesses strong quantitative and analytical skills to manage key business indicators, identify trends and drive business results
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build relationships with Gas and Electric operations to successfully implement strategic initiatives.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills.
