ICP Operator/Laboratory Technician

Location: Laboratory

Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt, M-F

Soil and Tissue Manager/Lab Director


Job Summary:

Process samples through the Lab to ensure quality data to our clients and that we are working to meet the proper turnaround times.

Lab Technician III - 2nd Shift ICP-OES Operator

PM Shift - 2 pm to 10:30 pm

20% Differential during PM - April - Sept/Oct only

• Lab Technician III with focus on ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma- Optical Emission Spectroscopy)

Duties/Responsibilities:

Lab Technician III with a focus on ICP-OES operation will be responsible for operating and maintaining the ICPs in the Soil & Tissue department.

Operator will be responsible for running trace element tests on soil & plant tissue samples in a high capacity fast paced environment.

This role will require regularly setting up samples for varying analyses, monitoring quality checks throughout each run, and organizing and reviewing data as the instrument runs.

This position will be on the 2nd shift and requires more independence in workflow management. Candidate will be required to organize sample priority. Candidate will be required to perform general maintenance and implement troubleshooting techniques when necessary.

Job description & requirements will still follow the general Lab Technician III position, with the knowledge that the primary workload will fall under ICP operation.

Candidate may still be required to assist in other Lab Technician duties such as sample preparation and bench chemistry analyses when necessary.

Full Time Position

After the completion of PM Shift, hours will return to days, 7 am - 4:30 pm.

Requirements

• 1-2 Years experience running ICP-OES or similar analytical instruments.
• Experience with general bench chemistry (making standards, reagents, serial dilutions)
• Experience working with Microsoft Excel and LIMS
• Ability to work independently.

Organization skills:
must be able to organize sample priority on the instrument as well as reviewing data as it runs.
