- Coordinates and facilitates activities pursuant to sections 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 of the Endangered Species Act across multiple field offices.
- Provides guidance and acts as a technical advisor to field office staff on regulations, policies, and guidance pertaining to classification and recovery of species under the Endangered Species Act.
- Writes and reviews rules, regulations, conservation agreements, recovery plans, species status assessments, and permits pertaining to rare, candidate, proposed, threatened, and endangered fish, wildlife, and plants.
- Recommends appropriate procedures for implementing provisions of the Endangered Species Act and establishes key contacts with other agencies, institutions, and the public.
- Plans and conducts status surveys for listed and candidate species, in cooperation with other Federal and state agency personnel, Native American tribes, private organization representatives, and contractors; negotiates agreements for status surveys with prospective contractors and personnel of cooperating agencies.
- Delivers presentations on the Service's policies and positions within the agency, to other agencies, and the public.
- Prepares written correspondence, briefing statements, and reports for Regional, Headquarters, and Congressional inquiries.
