The Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) is an independent non-profit training organization serving nursing home workers and home care workers, founded in 2000 by the home care workers of SEIU Local 2015.

Our mission is to provide educational opportunities to long-term care workers so they can build better lives and provide high-quality care to the consumers they serve.

As the largest provider of training for long-term care workers in California, CCA has trained more than 35,000 caregivers,, primarily women and people of color, in eight different languages.

CCA provides industry-leading training, workforce development, policy initiatives, research, and support systems to help California's caregivers and those they serve to thrive.


Position Overview:


(_Interim Employment not to exceed August 25, 2024)_**
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist instructors in virtual live courses by managing instructional tasks, including checking educational materials, reviewing instructional content, compiling student scores, and guiding students in using educational equipment.
  • Advise students about available programs, services, and learning resources, and orient them to these offerings.
  • Collaborate with instructors to prepare and manage instructional materials, contributing to the creation of a conducive learning environment.
  • Support the maintenance of student records, including tracking student progress and attendance, and undertake relevant recordkeeping activities.
  • Provide tailored assistance to students in using instructional conferencing systems like Zoom.
  • Work in collaboration with instructors, administrators, and other student support personnel to address and meet student needs effectively.
  • In partnership with instructors, engage in activities and strategies aimed at supporting student retention.
  • Contribute to the daily activities of the program, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Collaborate with managers in the development, analysis, and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) to measure and enhance program effectiveness. Implement necessary program modifications based on these evaluations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the educational environment.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • An Associate degree or two years' experience working in an educational setting with adult learners who have basic skills needs.
  • Recent experience in providing academic support within a learning lab, learning resource center, or tutorial services strongly preferred.

Bilingual in English and Spanish:

  • Familiarity catering to the needs of adult students.
  • Experience in workshop organization and meeting facilitation practices.
  • Strong problemsolving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Competence in recordkeeping and maintenance techniques with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collegially with instructors, teammates, management, and students, fostering student success.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with proven teambuilding abilities
  • Ability to support instructors in actively attracting and engaging students in their learning.
  • Ability to plan and organize work in a supportive team educational environment.

- **Travel to the Los Angeles area for in-person meetings will be required between 2-8 times during the year
