Salary - $19.61 per hour_

***: Under general supervision of the Athletics Manager, this person will perform skilled duties in maintaining athletic fields, other landscaped areas, and the Howard Park ice rink. Including, setting and marking playing fields to specifications, operating the Zamboni to prepare the ice, repair and maintaining equipment and performs other related duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm Schedule will vary, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, based on weather and departmental need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.

Maintains recreation facilities such as ball diamonds, soccer field, football fields, tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, ice rink, and other park facilities.
Responsible for ordering and delivering necessary field maintenance supplies and facilities
Responsible for daily ball game schedules.
Mows grass, park and ground maintenance including weed spraying
Removes or mulches leavers on all associated courts
Drags, scarifies, tills infields and warning tracks
Paints and chalk lines fields, including batter's boxes, foul lines, pitching circles, etc
Opens and closes facilities
Works with coaches and supervisors to maintain schedules
Keeps records of completed daily work both analogue and digital
Operates Zamboni to install and resurface ice
Uses ice edger as needed to maintain good quality ice surfacing
General and heavy custodial work in the Howard Park restrooms & Event Center during ice skating season
Inspects condition and cleanliness of facilities; prioritizes cleaning based on facility usage and custodial standards
Power washes ice rink and other hard surfaces
Communicate with parttime staff regarding work priorities and schedule changes
Picks up litter from the grounds and around facilities
Maintains clean and safe work areas, tools, and equipment
Be able to communicate with the public as needed, good customer service
May be required to work heights of 10ft or more on ladders
Maintains a positive attitude and consistent performance
Able to maintain best practices and learn new maintenance procedures
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and understand vacations may not be approved during the ice rink season

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
One year experience in athletic field maintenance, grounds maintenance and recreation programs.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in field maintenance, recreation programs grounds maintenance.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:
Valid Driver's license required. Class B CDL preferred.

EQUIPMENT:
Pickup truck, miscellaneous hand and power tools, lawn boys, weed eaters, riding mowers, field liners, painters.
