    Research:
    We will develop and support a rich array of outstanding health sciences research programs, centers, and resources. We will provide infrastructure and opportunities for collaboration among disciplines throughout and beyond our University to support outstanding research. We will foster programs in the areas of basic, translational, mechanistic, and population research.

    Position Summary:
    The Maness lab seeks to define the molecular mechanisms that govern development of connectivity in the mammalian brain.

    The focus of this research is on the role of a high confidence autism gene Ankyrin 2 in normal brain development and its pathology in autism.

    The Research Associate will work with other in the lab to analyze the effect of autism mutations in the Ankyrin 2 gene on synapse development in neuronal cultures prepared from mice.

    The candidate will have skills in DNA technology, cell culture, protein analysis, and some microscopy.

    for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.


    Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
    Previous Post-doc experience in a research laboratory.
    D. in biology, chemistry or a related life sciences field.

    Most important is a candidate that is excited to learn new laboratory techniques and willing to be flexible in their role to support the growth of the lab.
