Job Summary:
Olde Yankee, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of marine barge loading activities.

The role involves coordinating with hauling vendors, material suppliers, adherence to safety regulations, and effective team management to ensure efficient loading operations.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with knowledge of heavy equipment and marine vessels.

The Facility Manager is responsible for maintaining equipment, optimizing production output, managing personnel, and coordinating with other departments to meet production goals.


Key Responsibilities:

Vendor Communication:
Coordinate with various quarry vendors to communicate material needs and ensure timely supply. Liaise with other departments, such as sales, engineering, and maintenance, to coordinate activities and resolve issues. Communicate production schedules, performance metrics, and other relevant information to stakeholders.

Hauling Vendor Management:
Schedule and communicate with hauling vendors to arrange transportation for materials to and from the loading site. Monitor product quality through regular testing and inspection procedures. Implement measures to maintain or improve product quality standards.

Marine Barge Coordination:
Communicate with ports to estimate marine barge arrival times and coordinate loading activities accordingly.

Tug Boat Operator Communication:
Liaise with tug boat operators to facilitate the safe arrival and departure of marine barges.

Tide Understanding:
Understand the effects of high and low tides on barge arrival and loading operations to optimize scheduling.

Equipment Maintenance:
Oversee preventive maintenance programs for all plant equipment and machinery. Coordinate repairs and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. Oversee equipment service, including monitoring filters, fuel consumption, grease, and coordinating with staff for repairs as needed.

Facility Management:
Maintain a clean and organized operation to uphold safety standards and efficiency. Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains. Implement best practices and technology upgrades to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures. Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local traffic laws and municipal regulations governing marine loading operations. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits governing the operation of the facility. Implement measures to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Staff Management:
Manage staff schedules, including time off, overtime, and additional shifts, while upholding company safety policies. Recruit, train, and supervise plant personnel. Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching and feedback to staff members. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and achieve organizational goals.

Equipment Operation:
Operate conveyor belts and front-end loaders as needed to support loading operations.

Safety Compliance:
Implement and enforce safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. Conduct regular safety inspections and training sessions.

Budgeting and Cost Control:
Develop and manage the departmental budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize operational expenses.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in plant management or a similar role, preferably in the sand processing operations, construction heavy equipment, and technologies.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with marine vessel operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.
  • Ability to understand and work with tide schedules.
  • Experience in managing staff schedules and ensuring compliance with safety policies.
  • Proficiency in generating and analyzing operational reports.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Willingness to operate equipment and perform handson tasks when necessary.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and cost control.
  • Effective communication and problemsolving abilities.
  • Willingness to work in a fastpaced, dynamic environment with occasional weekend or evening shifts.

Pay:
$55, $70,000.00 per year
