- Take responsibility for providing exemplary pharmaceutical care to The Medicine Shoppe customers by optimizing their drug therapy
- Interpret physicians orders both written and verbal with respect to drug therapy and the provision of medical supplies offered by The Medicine Shoppe
- Enter drug therapy data in the pharmacy computer system in an accurate manner that promotes the highest goals of contemporary drug therapy
- Provide prescription service to our customers to include both new and refill orders
- Screen prescription orders for drug-drug and drug-food interactions and resolve issues that would compromise effective drug therapy
- Screen drug orders for appropriateness of therapy and resolve issues that would compromise effective drug therapy
- Maintain professional knowledge base reflective of contemporary pharmacy practice
- Prepare prescriptions in a manner that would provide the drugs to patients in as ready to utilize form as practical assuring that all drugs are properly labeled, packaged and stored consistent with effective drug therapy and applicable laws and regulations
- Provide consultation to patients and/or caregivers as appropriate to maximize effective drug therapy and to answer their questions pertaining to their drug therapy
- Check the prescription work of the pharmacy technicians
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager in directing the work of the technicians
- Assume responsibility for the operation of the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager
- Assist customers with their medical supply needs
- Compound prescriptions as required
- Maximize and resolve reimbursement issues for both The Medicine Shoppe and its customers
- Communicate effectively, via verbal, written, electronic and other means, with customers, patients, physicians and their office staffs, other medical providers and insurance company and third party processors as necessary
- Help maintain store appearance and functionality
- Assist with business transactions by operating cash registers, credit card terminals and other equipment as necessary and receive money/make change as required
- Assist with training of staff
- Assist Pharmacy Manager as required
- Help promote philosophy of the Mission Statement goals and The Medicine Shoppe Promise to result in loyal and highly contented customers
- Authorized to make and delegate routine drug and supply purchases
- Assist in marketing efforts
- Help safeguard and maintain the integrity of business property
- Help maintain inventory levels adequate to meet normal business needs while minimizing inventory expenses
- Responsible for compliance with all pertinent legal and regulatory requirements including pharmacy and DEA specific laws
- Conduct oneself in an ethical manner
