Description
DUTIES: BorgWarner PDS (USA), Inc. seeks a Sr. Electrification Controls Engineer based out of our office at 3800 Automation Ave, Auburn Hills, MI Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.
Duties: Responsible for the development of innovative controls solutions in traction application electric machine, electrification systems, and power electronics controls; analyze multiple potential controls solutions to determine the best solution to achieve given controls objectives; develop innovative controls solutions to real-world industry problems while balancing timing, technical, and cost constraints; mature new controls solutions from concept to production ready; support BorgWarner product development team with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, design reviews and customer communications; act as focal point for machine and systems controls designs technical discussions with cross-competency teams, management, and customers; communicate existing and future controls capabilities and limitations to cross-competency teams, management, and customers; assist in quoting engineering design and development efforts for new business opportunities including the proper decomposition, allocation, and documentation of controls requirements; Drive quality controls software architecture and implementation concepts; and determine, document, and share best practice techniques and procedures and apply them to analysis, design, and experimental testing.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering and 24 months of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include experience with the following: experience designing, developing, implementing, and calibrating automotive powertrain algorithms; experience developing and implementing Controls algorithms for electrified powertrains or electric machines/inverter controls; experience using Matlab/Simulink; experience conducting design, development, and validation of electric machine control algorithms and high voltage power electronic inverter control algorithms; and experience working with Functional Safety regulations related to Power Electronics Controls.
