    And we're looking for a Materials EngineerAbout the position:

    E Ink's Research and Development department is seeking a talented Materials Engineer to join our dynamic polymer formulation team in our Fremont, CA office.

    As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions for our cutting-edge ePaper products, aligning with our mission of "We Make Surfaces Smarter".This role leads research and development initiatives focused on polymer additives and optimizing coating processes for thin film applications within a roll-to-roll production framework.


    Responsibilities:
    Formulate and optimize polymer coatings to drive quality product development and advance display technology.

    Champion defect analysis efforts, identifying root causes and implementing innovative solutions to enhance coating uniformity and minimize imperfections, particularly on challenging substrates.

    Utilize lab-scale experiments and advanced analytical techniques to understand and help build predictive frameworks of coating performance.
    Collaborate across teams (R&D, Pilot, and QC) to shepherd projects from concept to full-scale manufacturing.
    Develop and refine roll-to-roll coating process parameters for robust substrate adhesion and coating quality.
    Remain at the forefront of coating technology advancements, actively contributing to the organization's culture of innovation and excellence.


    Qualifications:
    BS/MS in Material Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
    Strong understanding of fundamentals for thin film polymeric coatings, including formulation, rheology, surface energy, wetting behavior, and substrate requirements.
    Knowledge of Design of Experiments and Statistical AnalysisExperience with roll-to-roll coating processes and polymer materials is highly desirable.
    Industry experience is advantageous, but a strong academic background and relevant research experience are also considered.


    Benefits:


    The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $100,000-$140,000 for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
