SUMMARY:

The Quoting Engineer/Cost Estimator determines appropriate machine platform and establishes manufacturing cycle times to generate cost estimates and product development input for manufacturability in a low to high-volume, high-mix machining environment.

This is achieved by proactively reviewing new designs, developing manufacturing estimates, achieving the cost targets, understanding the core principles of design for manufacturing, identifying both standard and innovative manufacturing processes, and supporting continual improvement and quality in product design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Costing/Quoting of new parts manufactured on screw machines, hydromat rotary transfer, and CNC machines
• Updates existing quotes with raw material changes
• Working with Quotation Manager to monitor/verify actual vs. quoted costs and identify potential cost/efficiency improvements
• Consult with customers, General Managers, Setup Leads, and Chief Commercial Officer to ensure that manufacturability is considered during the design phase
• Continually improve processes and procedures by staying up to date in manufacturing technologies, tooling advancements, and industry evolutions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three to five years of experience quoting, cost estimating and/or a direct machining/setup/engineering position in a machine shop or similar industry.

Demonstrate positive, team-oriented, goal focused leadership.

Working knowledge of metal machining and finishing processes such as grinding, heat treating and electroplating.

Experience with CAD/CAM software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Must understand geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T), blueprint reading and cost breakdowns.

Must be willing to work directly with customers to understand technical requirements to communicate with the team.

$120,000.00 per year
