Description

Seeking a motivated, proactive, energetic professional to assist the ACT Marketing & Business Development team in handling all activities for the firm's US offices, and as workflows allow, for our global platform.

This role reports to the Senior Manager of ACT Business Development in Washington, DC and is a member of a team that consists of six additional colleagues located in London, Brussels and Hong Kong.


A person in this role must be adept at balancing short and long team projects, deliver on tactical projects as described below and to leverage all the firms BD tools such as Salesforce and Foundation.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategy: Understand the opportunities for US ACT and work with the Sr. Manager to develop and execute a focused marketing and business development strategy that strengthens relationships with existing clients, targets new work and builds the US and global reputation of the firm.
  • Proposals/

Client Meetings:
Researching and drafting materials (pitches, brochures, and capability statements) for client meetings and in response to RFPs.

Liaising directly with lawyers, business development colleagues and our design/production team throughout the process and most often under time constraints.

Helping to maintain database of up-to-date standard marketing materials and attorney biographies to facilitate quick responses.

  • Directory Submissions & Awards: Execute drafts of _Chambers, Legal 500 US _and other antitrustspecific submissions, as well as oneoff awards for practices and individuals. Liaising directly with partners and Sr. Manager to finalize submissions.
  • Client Targeting: Supporting development, implementation and followup activities surrounding client plans and client meetings. Tracking progress of initiatives and meetings and coordinating with other groups or offices targeting the same clients.
  • Events: Leading on organizing client events/seminars/webinars/podcasts, preparing invite lists, mailing invitations, coordinating materials, executing on the event and ensuring proactive followup, liaising with Events and CLE teams, as necessary.
  • Organization Sponsorships: Acting as a liaison with external organizations, evaluating sponsorships, drafting business cases and leveraging sponsorships (speakers, client opportunities, social media) to get the most value of exposure for our practice and lawyers.
  • Practice Group Support: Preparing materials for internal practice group meetings, such as business development activity reports, event summaries and agendas, and liaising with the finance and practice development teams on materials, as necessary.
  • Research and Analysis: Undertaking internal and external research and analysis on clients, targets, markets, competitors, rankings, etc. Demonstrate the ability to discover insights, trends, patterns through data analysis and creating compelling presentations.
  • Client Mailings/

Contact Database:
Coordinating mailings for client newsletters and briefings. Maintaining mailing lists and updating as necessary, using relevant systems in coordination with our CRM resources.

  • Website/Blogs: Update and amend the contents of relevant sections of the firm's website and blogs, liaising with the website team as appropriate.
  • Lateral Partner Practice Integrations: Supporting lateral partner integration including client briefings, trip preparation, integration of new skills into practice materials and tracking lateral partner activities alongside the partners' secretary.
  • Public Relations: Coordinating with internal public relations team to assist with various mediarelated opportunities.
  • Other: Additional duties may be assigned. Position may require irregular work hours around key deadlines and events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least four years of business development or related experience in a law firm environment desired.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with lawyers and MBD colleagues in a collaborative, global environment.
