The Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).

Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.

Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

This is a mid-level Engineering Technician 2 (AM Technician Role).

This technician will function in the support role with other senior or junior level technicians to perform additional day to day work assignments.

This is a hands on role; the individual should be able to effectively function in a small team to perform complex advanced manufacturing work that includes routine engineering oversight.

Other responsibilities include, ability to perform and maintain physical activity for extended periods that may include standing and/or physical labor.


Must Have
Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of nonrelated Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Nice to Have

  • Ability to write and execute procedures and test plans
  • Ability to setup/operate/maintain metal laser powder bed fusion machines and/or wirearc AM machines
  • 2D/3D CAD & CAM experience
  • Experience with hands on part finishing (deburring, grit blasting, polishing)
  • Mechanically inclined individual with demonstrated experience performing technical work
  • Relevant technical experience, preferably in a manufacturing or mechanical field.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Manufacturing skills, but not limited to machining, inspection, mechanic, welding, etc.
