Department Description

  • Enterprise Emergency Management at UCSF focuses its work on the four phases of Emergency Management (Preparedness, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery) and Business Continuity. This work helps maintain a safe environment for the people of and at UCSF and surrounding community during normal and emergency situations. Enterprise Emergency Management strives to be a national and international leader by developing and maintaining high functioning emergency management and business continuity programs that implement and develop best practices, using a progressive and modern approach to an everchanging environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration, health care or other relatable degree or four years of relevant/equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years relevant progressive experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of emergency management preparedness programs and requirements at the local, state and federal level.
  • Indepth knowledge of federal, state, and local emergency management laws, regulations, and guidelines, preferably as they relate to healthcare and higher education institutions.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with internal and external stakeholders, leardership, cooperating groups and the community.
  • Advanced skill to deliver training, exercises and/or education to diverse workgroups.
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Demonstrated resiliency and adaptability in a fastpaced, dynamically changing environment.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities to foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism contributing to an inclusive work and learning environment.
  • Skilled in working independently and following through on assignments with mínimal direction.
  • Skilled at recognizing the organizational, operational, and cultural differences in order to guide.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of health systems and higher education.
  • Experience working in the health system and/or higher education spaces.
  • Advanced skill in leading or overseeing the work of others in delivery of effective training, exercises, continuous improvement and/or education programs.
  • Advanced skill to appropriately use technology to deliver emergency management and/or health system preparedness and/or education programs.
  • Formal education in preparedness programs including training, exercises and/or education fields.
  • Certified Emergency Manager at state, national or international program.
  • Qualifications (past or current) in Incident Command System/Incident Management/Support related positions from an accredited government organization.
  • Training, education or exercise related Certification.
  • Planning, program management related Certification.
