    Primary Purpose of the

    Organizational Unit:
    Student Health Services (SHS) provides primary and mental health care for UNC Greensboro students.

    Provides student-centered, medical, counseling and wellness services which are affordable and accessible


    • Provides an environment of inclusion, respect and appreciation of diversity
    • Crisis response and clinical risk assessment, including suicidal and homicidal risk assessment

    Advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services to UNCG students who have been victims/survivors of violence, including, but not limited to sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, sexual harassment, theft, and robbery.

    The position will assist with personal, legal, academic, medical, Title IX, and other types of advocacy as needed to bring UNCG and community resources to bear in order to maximize retention and success.

    The position will support and advise student victims throughout the various stages of reporting and adjudicating student complaints.
    Maintain proactive outreach and follow up with victims
    Work collaboratively with campus, community, and statewide groups to better coordinate efforts to support victims
    Keep abreast of federal and state laws relating to campus safety
    Manage documentation and database of advocacy cases
    Provide support and information to secondary victims including family members, loved ones, friends, and roommates, consistent with state and federal laws
    Assist in the implementation and evaluation of campus-wide crime as well as consultation for prevention and awareness programming consistent with evidence-based practices
    Collaborate, conduct, and coordinate training for students, faculty, and staff through direct presentations and collaboration with those conducted by other departments on campus including Counseling and Psychological Services, UNCG Police Department, Title IX, Housing and Residence Life, Student Success, Dean of Students office and other academic departments, particularly as it relates to the development of appropriate training and delivery of that training
    Collaborate on-campus projects and serve on university committees
    Promote the visibility of services throughout the campus community
    Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution
    ~1-3 years of experience in crisis or advocacy work
    ~ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and respond to nuanced situations in a critically reflective manner, evaluate needs, and provide assistance with objectivity impartiality
    ~ Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with diverse students, faculty, and staff, and to work effectively and collaboratively with other University offices such as: Title IX, Dean of Students, Human Resources, Law Enforcement, UNCG Counseling Center.
    ~ Must be able to act independently and to balance advocating for multiple clients, responding to crisis and walk-in traffic, and developing and delivering programs for the university community
    ~ Must demonstrate a strong understanding of best-practices relating to duties of the position and the ability to independently make sound decisions based on best practices, laws, policies, and procedures.

    Experience/Expertise in working with communities of color, marginalized communities, and/or issues of intersectionality, power, privilege, and oppression.

    Key Responsibility:
    Victim/Survivor Support & Advocacy

    Promote the visibility of services throughout the campus community.

    Keep abreast of federal and state laws relating to campus safety and identify best practices used by higher education institutions and community survivor resource organizations.
