Langley Air Force Base, VA- Registered Nurse Operating Room
Maxmed is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide services at Langley Air Force Base within their Operating Room Unit.

Place of Performance:
The work to be performed under this contract will be at 633 Medical Group, Langley AFB, Hampton VA.


Work Schedule:
Work hours are approximately 8-hour shifts, typically Monday Friday. Schedule is limited to 40 hours weekly or 80 hours every 2 weeks. Typical shift start from , but some 8-hour variance may occur.

On-Call Hours:
Not to exceed 1000 hours per year


Duties are as follows:


  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
  • Perform physical exam and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
  • Lift patients as needed with assistance from team members.
  • Lift 20lbs surgical trays and bear prolonged standing.
  • Follow assignments based on the needs of the unit: Nurse Manager of Surgical Specialty, Infection Control Monitor, Charge Nurse, and any additional administrative duties necessary for Surgical Operations.

Qualifications:


  • Degree: Associates Degree of Nursing.
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Experience: One year of experience in nursing as identified in the TO after graduation.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience: A minimum of 12 months experience is mandatory in operating room assignments. Experience must include all phases of operating room technique such as preparing operating room units, preparing patients for surgery; and assisting medical officer during surgery; and conducting instrument and equipment sterilization procedures.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Life Support (ALS)
