The Contributions You'll Make

  • Utilize expertise in Linux and UNIX environments to debug, enhance and deploy COBOL, Linux Shell script, Omni Script programs.
  • Manage Oracle Database solutions, including writing SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Provide Production Support, monitor batch for job abends and resolve them with mínimal assistance.
  • Enhance existing systems by analyzing business objectives, preparing an action.
  • Work on Incident, Service Requests and Changes to execute them within SLA.
  • Execute Standard work based on SOP and create new SOP document as needed.
  • Execute Application Health Check and accurately report the status to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of software code, specifications, and user manuals.
  • Ability to create updated documents based on problem resolution and changes required
  • Ability to complete analysis and provide root causes to business and all levels of management
  • Governs execution on day to day batch and monitoring practices via engagement with team and utilization of governance reports and service now metrics.
  • Escalates delivery issues to the Application Support Consultant and Application Manager
  • Work with offshore team to ensure production jobs are completed successfully and status updates are provided
  • Governs Incident Management and root cause analysis, technical issues, problem resolution and suggests improvement plans
  • Ability to validate defect reporting data and escalations from business customers
  • Reviews SLA reports and escalates concerns to Application Support Consultant and Manager
  • Ensures system documentation is up to date and follows standard operation
  • Influences and clearly relates technical alternatives to business objectives, using effective communications with customers and stakeholders
  • Understands business impacts when production issues occur and completes the tasks required by working OT if required and/or handoff to the offshore team
  • Provides training and guidance to offshore team members as needed
  • Running cycles production/lower environments

  • Ability to work with clients/vendors if issues with files
  • Oncall 24/7 based on rotation schedule and expertise and flexibility to work in rotational night shifts and rotational weekends.
  • Participate in annual DR Test by reviewing DR Plan, providing support during DR exercise and ensuring test is completed within the change window
  • Ensure deployment of code changes follow proper channels through Clearcase and that all changes are completed within the change window
Minimum Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 or more years of complex (multitiered) software development experience
  • Technical knowledge as follows:
  • Omni Retirement Systems, OMNI Admin Web, Omni Script (required)
  • Cobol
  • Core Java
  • Unix Shell and Linux scripting
  • DB2, SQL, Oracle DB
  • Azure Cloud

  • Micro-Focus enterprise server and tools

  • Basic understanding in US Retirement Services domain specially in Defined Contribution business like 401(k), 403(b), 457, IRA plans etc.
  • Handson experience in debugging & enhancement of Cobol, Linux Shell script, OmniScript programs
  • Experience with DevOps and version control tools like Git enables effective collaboration and code management within a development team.
