    Summary:


    The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans, workers compensation and medical spending accounts.

    In addition, the Benefits Specialist will be responsible for office operations at this base location.

    This position is based in Grand Junction Colorado and requires local residency. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    include the following:

    Benefits:
    Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
    Assists with new-hire orientations and onboarding
    Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
    Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
    Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
    Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes
    Responds to benefits inquiries on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
    Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts
    Assists with the open enrollment process
    Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
    Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments,
    COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, and compliance testing
    Maintenance and upkeep of employee benefits files and group benefits database
    Ensure the distribution of materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions
    Provide training and support to staff to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.
    Actively participates in organization social/culture committee(s)
    Research, explore and recommend new programs or updates to current programs to ensure organization remains competitive in the market
    Compiles reports to ensure maximum utilization of benefit programs and total reward package
    Performs other related duties as assigned

    Office Operations:


    Coordinates and directs office services including maintaining office equipment and supplies, acquiring necessary office equipment, and office housekeeping such as ordering breakroom supplies and snacks, etc.

    Assists with the setup and coordination of meetings, conferences, and employee events
    Liaison between property management and staff on events and activities at the office complex
    Act as office safety liaison, managing our safety processes and procedures
    Qualifications

    Skills
    Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio; experience with HRIS and benefits databases (ADP Preferred)
    Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA,
    COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, and Social Security and DOL requirements
    Strong customer service skills
    Ability to plan, organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects efficiently and effectively
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to large audiences.
    Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    Proficiency with ADP Human Resource platform preferred
    Education/Experience
    Minimum of 3+ years of experience in employee benefits administration. Associates Degree in related field or commensurate experience and/or other

    training/certification

    required.

    The position may require occasional availability for after-hours work, outside of regularly scheduled hours.


    The position may require ability to periodically drive to and from clients, conferences and / or events; and / or limited travel.


    This position is expected to be exposed to, process, or handle sensitive information including but not limited to Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), financial information, etc.

    As such, the holder of this position is expected to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and compliance expectations.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    The person in this position needs to frequently communicate and exchange information and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

    Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

    Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a keyboard, monitor, calculator, copy / scanner machine, and printer.

    Frequently moves office and work-related material weighing up to 10 pounds; Occasionally moves office and work-related material weighing up to 30 pounds.
