The Strategic Payments Partnerships team pursues, establishes and manages eBay's relationships with a growing list of global partners with the goals of accelerating growth, driving revenue and decreasing operating cost.


The role of the Business Development Associate is to support developing global partnership strategy and global payment partnerships that accelerate growth for eBay while improving operating cost leverage.

The Business Development Associate will support the execution and management of partnerships as it relates to global payments acceptance, disbursements, financial products & services, and risk.


What you will accomplish:


  • Conduct research and analysis on the market, the industry, and potential partners of the business to produce insights and recommendations that can help the Partnerships team identify gaps, opportunities, and threats.
  • Support overall business development strategy, processes, structure, and standard methodologies.
  • Extend our global reach through expert discovery and exploration of new and untapped business opportunities and relationships.
  • Manage proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements, content creation, and inputs from various sources.
  • Support new business development, critical initiatives and partner management for the Payments vertical, performing a broad range of quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Lead the development of proposals and presentations for eBay leadership, in order to achieve agreement on new partnerships and business opportunities.
  • Create partnership and deal summaries that clearly lay out the "who", "what", "why", "how", and "when", including strategic vision, goals, partner profiles, negotiation status, recommendations, roadmap and tailor to different audiences as needed.
  • Work cross functionally while you track, monitor, and manage various projects for the Payments Partnerships team.

What you will bring:

years experience in management consulting, investment banking, strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, operations role

  • Experience working with Payment Networks, Processors, and Financial Services companies, and extensive senior relationships with business leaders across the Payments vertical
  • Handle a high volume of engagements and thrive on the fast pace of our company without compromising on an ability to dive into the details and finer points of deals
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information as well as complex and ambiguous topics and present it to different audiences in clear and effective ways
  • Proficient with PowerPoint/Google slides and Excel/Google Sheets and Docs
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills including being able to communicate with clarity and being highly organized, persuasive, and adaptable


The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$106,800 - $162,800
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.


If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
