    POSITION DETAILS

    Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

    Salary: $150, ,000

    • Salary is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
    Work Schedule: 40-hour work week
    • LPHI offers traditional (M-F, 8 am-5 pm), flexible (for example, M-F 10 am-7pm), and compressed work schedules (for example, M-Th 8 am-7 pm). Schedule details finalized between employee and manager.
    Location: This is a Louisiana-based, hybrid position with occasional (
    • LPHI maintains an office in New Orleans if the employee prefers to be full-time in-office.
    • Employees must reside in Louisiana during the time of employment.

    Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

    Supervises: Associate Director of Finance, Assistant Controller, Staff Accountant and Payroll Coordinator

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    LPHI is looking to hire a CFO to lead our growing organization in all financial aspects. The CFO's strategic leadership will steer the organization in the right financial direction while holding departments that are tangential to the accounting and finance department accountable for the implementation and execution of the new direction.

    As a pivotal member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of LPHI reports directly to the CEO and provides dynamic and decisive leadership. The CFO is tasked with defining and implementing infrastructure and systems necessary to support the organization's continued growth. Additionally, the CFO oversees all finance and accounting functions, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities while leading business services and communicating with external stakeholders about LPHI's programs. They continuously seek ways to enhance investment and finance programs, ensure compliance with relevant laws and tax obligations, manage organizational risks and liabilities, and collaborate with other senior leaders to meet funders' needs. The ideal CFO is a team builder, problem-solver, and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, while achieving financial health success metrics related to budgets, grants, and contracts.

    As a CFO you will:
    • Frequently partner with LPHI's leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, providing recommendations based on financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
    • Monitor progress of budgets and present operational metrics.
    • Acquire comprehensive familiarity with GAAP and cultivate a profound grasp of the financial and operational dynamics within non-profits, tailored to the needs of LPHI.
    • Ensure financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds. Manage cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
    • Manage capital planning, risk management, and board of director interactions.
    • Skillfully oversee various projects, nurturing robust connections and assuming a pivotal role within the leadership teams of LPHI.
    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    Lead business strategy and services including directing and aiding leadership in designing, structuring, and operating business services.
    • Oversee business initiatives/operations to further organizational opportunities and advise LPHI Leadership of known/potential barriers for and risks to the organization.
    • Generate forecasts and "fee-for-service" pricing models for the organization's financial future.
    • Assess and report on where the organization is most financially efficient and where improvements can be made.
    • Predict future scenarios and analyze the best direction for the organization's success.
    • Oversee the organization's capital structure, options for debt, and best ways to invest money.
    • Oversee business activities to direct and monitor compliance with applicable Internal Revenue Code guidance/regulation for the purpose of assuring LPHI's tax-exempt status.
    • Direct and guide leadership, managers, and staff in the practice of business service policies and procedures.
    • Advise Senior Leadership in sustainability planning and in resolving strategic business issues.
    • Lead, develop, and oversee effective internal control policy and procedure for the operation and delivery of business services.
    • Lead, develop, and oversee internal pricing/budgeting tools used for business development operations across the organization.
    • Lead, develop, and oversee metrics in measuring business service performance for meeting strategic plan priorities and goals.
    Lead and execute finance and accounting functions including planning, analysis, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
    • Develop and monitor the implementation of long-range financial plans in conjunction with the CEO including setting targets for organizational growth.
    • Oversee internal financial-management policies and procedures, performance measures, and dashboards.
    • Oversee monthly and quarterly financial statements and financial analysis; oversee annual audit.
    • Evaluate the financial performance of various business units and initiatives, recommending adjustments to optimize profitability and efficiency.
    • Serve as primary contact on behalf of LPHI for banking relationship and investment managers.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks through proactive risk assessment and the implementation of effective risk management strategies to support the day-to-day organizational operations including but not limited to General Liability, Directors & Officers Liability, ERISA coverage, and Cybersecurity.
    • Advance LPHI's strategic plan by developing and implementing initiatives and addressing critical strategic issues in finance and accounting matters.
    • Oversee and support finance team with establishing goals, developing staff, and resolving skills and capacity gaps.
    • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management activities in alignment with LPHI's strategic plan.
    • Engage the LPHI board of directors' finance committee and Treasurer of the
    Board around issues, trends, reporting, audit, and other fiscal and/or operational matters.
    • Act as Administrator of LPHI's 401k retirement plan.
    • Oversee the financial statement audit, benefit plan audit, and the preparation of applicable tax filing forms such as Form 990 (annual non-profit tax return) and Form 5500 (annual benefit plan financial reporting form); annual Form 1099 reporting to ensure safeguarding of the organization's assets.
    • Foster a culture of accountability and excellence amongst finance team and across all LPHI teams that is in alignment with LPHI's strategic plan, mission, vision and values.
    ABOUT YOU

    Position Requirements
    • Master's degree in business administration, accounting, and/or finance is required.
    • CPA license preferred; CMA license preferred.
    • Experience in the nonprofit industry required.
    • 10+ years' experience in accounting profession or practice at a leadership/supervisory level
    • 10+ years' experience in financial management and compliance

    • Direct experience or familiarity with governmental grants/contracts as well as award agreements from private philanthropy.
    • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office and accounting systems and software.
    • Excellent presentation skills and ability to deliver complex financial information to non-financial personnel in a manner that is appropriate and easily understandable.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively on a team and with internal and external stakeholders and diverse partners.
    • General knowledge and familiarity with political and budget contexts at the federal, state, and local levels. Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and efficiently while regularly meeting deadlines.
    • Strong emotional intelligence skills, including interpersonal skills and experience working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to champion and manage change.
    • Experienced in implementing finance and accounting information technology solutions to support organizational growth along with supporting, coaching, and guiding teams in utilizing IT solutions for data-driven and informed decision making.
    • Experienced in business services, strategy, and operation, including business plan/model development, including contract development and management.
    • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.
