Job Summary:
As the part-time Bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position is responsible for managing all financial transactions and maintaining accurate records for our company.
The Bookkeeper will play a vital role in maintaining financial excellence while staying in alignment with our organization's core values, ensuring that integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct guide our financial practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and budget comparisons.
Payroll, Payables & Receivables:
- Manage payroll and employee benefits, including processing payroll, tracking vacation and sick time, and administering the health supplement plan
- Distribute payroll forms and time sheets to employees.
- Prepare and file quarterly sales tax returns
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial laws, including GAAP.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity.
- Manage audits by external auditors and regulatory agencies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Participate in the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
Cash Flow Management:
- Manage cash flow, including optimizing working capital and liquidity.
- Oversee cash disbursements and collections to ensure efficient cash management.
- Develop and implement cash flow projections.
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Communicate financial information to management and others, including presenting reports and answering questions.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies and objectives.
- Provide financial insights to support decisionmaking and growth initiatives.
Vendor Relations:
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other external partners.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and enhance financial processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement best practices and automation to streamline financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience.
- Familiarity with various accounting software/financial management systems (QuickBooks, etc.).
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Experience in working with financial statements and budgets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problemsolving abilities.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of financial data.

- Ability to work in a diverse, fastchanging environment and the ability to be flexible, resourceful and maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging circumstances.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask; timemanagement is key

Working condition
- Parttime, inperson position three weekdays per week.
- Shelter work requires flexibility and the willingness to occasionally work outside ones scope, including areas to which you are not assigned, when the need arises.
- This position involves working near animals.
- Benefits include Paid Time Off and a monthly medical stipend. Pet benefits too
Salary:
$21 per hour
Salary to be reviewed for merit increase upon 6 months of continued employment
