    Job DescriptionSalary: $72,000-80,080 DOE/DOQ

    Position: Critical Care Paramedic

    Reports to: Field Supervisor/Crew Chief

    Position Requirements:

    • 3+ Years of Paramedic Experience, earned from an approved paramedicine educational program.
    • Nationally Registered Paramedic
    • South Carolina Paramedic credential
    • IBSC Board Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C), Flight Critical Care Paramedic (FP-C), or CFRN certification
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS
    • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) & Valid Driver's License
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Proficiency with ventilator operations

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification – or obtained within 6 months
    • Rapid Sequence Induction/Intubation (RSI) certified/prior experience
    • PHTLS, ITLS, or equivalent – or obtained within 6 months
    • Prior Critical Care experience
    • AHA and NAEMT Instructor

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Works as a team to provide high quality out-of-hospital advanced care in accordance with physician approved clinical guidelines and within the provider's defined scope of practice.
    • Response to and completion of requests for service in accordance with organizational Standard Operating Guidelines, industry standards, and with customer service in mind.
    • Timely and accurate completion of detailed patient care reports.
    • Attends a minimum of quarterly critical care in-house training programs, most of which will be completed in a simulation center.
    • Continued competency and growth within the field of mobile medicine.
    • Completion of daily equipment inventory assessments, ensuring all equipment is on-board and in proper working condition.
    • Maintenance of station(s) and unit(s) in accordance with organizational policy
    • Public relations and education responsibilities as requested.
    • Participation in quality assurance and/or other assigned oversight committee(s) within the organization.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move 150lbs independently (300lbs with a partner)
    • Able and willing to be seated, standing, walking, etc. for lengthy periods of time.
    • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
    • Ability to successfully mitigate stressful situations with co-worker, healthcare providers, patients, and the public.
    • Flexibility to respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service at any given time while assigned to a shift, including up until, and beyond, scheduled "off" times.

    Summary:

    The Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) is responsible for the oversight of all operational and clinical care associated with their assigned unit for the duration of their shift. This includes communication with patients, the public, dispatch, hospitals, etc. In addition, the CCP-C will be required to respond to various requests for service, providing Advanced Life Support and Critical Care services as requested by the designated communications center. All responses and patient contacts will require the efficient and timely completion of patient care reports via an electronic submission method. Other duties may be assigned as availability and organizational needs allow. The CCP-C shall maintain a strong commitment to educational and skill advancement, spending much of their work time evaluating care records and focusing on additional training opportunities to maintain a high level of proficiency. Above all else, the CCP-C will serve with compassion and professionalism.

    Providers selected for this position will regularly coordinate and participate in outreach activities, to grow and expand this regional program and bring awareness to area healthcare systems. Furthermore, these providers will play an instrumental role in building upon the foundation of this program.

    About Thorne Ambulance Service (TAS):

    TAS is a progressive, family owned & operated, mobile medical provider. Established in 2010, and headquartered in Greenville (SC), TAS has built a solid reputation for quality and consistency in healthcare across South Carolina. With the implementation of Critical Care services in the Grand Strand, Thorne's ability to care for the acutely ill and injured will be further expanded, granting a new patient population access to timely and clinically appropriate care.

    Application & Interview Process:

    Providers interested in this position, when applying, should include a resume/cv and cover letter. Interviews will be conducted by current Thorne Ambulance Critical Care providers, in addition to members of company administration.

    This program will tentatively launch on July 1st. It is our goal to select the inaugural class of providers for this opportunity by the early part of June. Selected providers will then undergo a rigorous internal educational program, building upon and showcasing their clinical skillset. Upon completion of this program, providers will be assigned to a Critical Care Paramedic role in the organization. These providers will often work with the EMTs and Paramedics of Thorne Ambulance Service in the commission of their responsibilities. In addition to Critical Care-level requests, selected providers may be required to respond to emergency inter-facility calls (e.g.: STEMI, stroke, trauma, etc.) that will not necessarily rise to the level of critical care services, but may be warranted to facilitate target times, care quality, and desired patient outcomes.

    Program Design:

    This program was designed in coordination with Dr. Coben Thorn (Medical Director), Kevin Anderson (Grand Strand Operations Manager), Chris Battlo (Clinical Manager), and Ryan Thorne (CEO/Director). Additional support has been provided by the exceptional team at HCA's Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
