- Develop engineering design for medium size projects of moderate complexity:
- Have a firm grasp of symmetrical components and how they apply in regular P&C duties such as relay settings, system fault models and in relay settings. Have a good understanding of Per Unit and Base calculations in doing engineering studies.
- Assists in troubleshooting and may supervise repair activities as assigned.
- May assist in the training of relay technicians for installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures involving new relaying equipment.
- Coordinates or verifies work of outside contractors and/or engineering firms concerning relay design activities; monitors work orders, project progress, change orders, and contractor payments of assigned areas.
- May represent GRDA in regional organizations concerning relaying and/or relaying activities.
- Creates, organizes, and maintains records for assigned oversight areas of department.
- Expands proficiency in the following by performing structured work assignments:
- After-hours work may be required under system emergency or storm conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university is required, a power emphasis is preferred. Additional coursework in a power related engineering field of study are desirable.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in protection and control applications for electrical power transmission and generation, systems analysis, computer programming, and project and facility management is required.
- Must have a valid Oklahoma driver's license.
- Engineer Intern status in Oklahoma. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and registration as an EI in Oklahoma is preferred.
- Must be capable of methodical analysis of complex technical problems.
- Must possess and demonstrate excellent writing and composition skills and be able to speak understandable English.
- Must be comfortable giving verbal presentations before groups.
- Must be able to walk, climb stairs, crawl, work from ladders and elevated platforms.
- Must not have a fear of heights, confined spaces, or working around high voltage equipment.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 50 lb. on an irregular basis.
- Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. Manual dexterity is required for operation of test equipment, small tools, and the installation, adjustment, and repair of relays and control devices.
- Work is usually performed in an office environment with outdoor excursions for design, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment when necessary.
- Repair work may be performed outdoors and/or indoors in a high noise/high temperature environment with possible work in confined spaces. Emergency repair work may be required during inclement weather and at any time in any season.
- Work is performed primarily at the Engineering & Technology Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Specific project work may occur at any GRDA transmission or generation facility located throughout the northeastern quarter of Oklahoma, as assigned.

Protection & Control Engineer
III
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This is an unclassified (exempt) position performing electrical engineering duties for the T&D Engineering Department of the Grand River Dam Authority as assigned by the Manager, Protection &Control Engineering.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to the Manager, P&C Engineering.
SUPERVISED PERSONNEL:
Does not supervise any other positions. May assume specific temporary supervisory duties for certain project functions and/or training duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
o Generates & peer reviews single line diagrams, communication diagrams, AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material and cable schedules.
o Produce cost estimates, project schedules, and execution plans for assigned projects. Draft scopes of work for engineering and construction contractors.o Develop data sheets and specifications for equipment.
o Bid engineering and construction services and recommend award.
o Select equipment vendors.
o Assists with the update of departmental construction standards and other departmental records.
o Maintains currency in modern industry trends regarding the various types of protective relays and understanding how they are applied to the various types of zones of protection.
o Uses Aspen One Liner, SEL AcSELerator or Grid Configurator, Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel, Enoserve PowerBase, eQuorum ImageSite DMS, and other minor software typical to the group for performance of engineering analysis, calculations, and design.
o Site visits for scoping, project updates and closeout.EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
