    Job Description


    SKB Cases is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and detail-oriented person to design injection and roto-molded cases for a variety of applications within the protective hard case space.

    As the in-house Design Engineer, you will be expected to work closely with sales and production teams to develop case solutions from concept to design, prototyping, and final implementation.

    You will also be expected to facilitate manufacturing of cases on an ongoing basis. This is a full-time position (Monday – Friday; 7am – 4pm) located at company headquarters in Orange, California.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
    Designing injection and rotationally molded parts and cases using industry standard software

    Designing both steel and aluminum tooling to produce injection and rotationally molded parts and cases
    Interfacing with in-house production planners, production managers, and quality assurance personnel
    Cataloging and maintaining all current and future case designs
    Maintaining a product release schedule for new case designs
    Interacting with external engineering contractors

    Operating foam fabrication equipment (saws, waterjet cutter, glue equipment, etc.) to produce prototypes

    Interfacing with partners and foam fabrication vendors to source materials and technologies
    Interfacing with in-house production planners, production managers, and quality assurance personnel
    Cataloging and maintaining all current and future foam designs
    Maintaining a production schedule for prototypes and short production runs

    Working directly with sales teams to

    Establish project scope and provide actionable feedback
    Develop designs and prototypes
    Analyze or estimate costs

    Other duties as assigned

    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    Excellent communication and organizational skills
    Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
    Proficiency with

    AutoCAD
    SolidWorks
    Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

    Strong ability to work both independently within role (with minimal supervision) and collaboratively with a team
    Excellent multitasking and analytical skills
    Education/experience

    in engineering and drafting in the packaging or relevant field preferred
