GENERAL FUNCTION


This position provides leadership and direction for Food Service operations of the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission as interrupted by the President and the Board of Directors.


  • Experience in institutional food and beverage service
  • Understanding of purchasing, cost control, and budgeting
  • Some restaurant or catering experience
  • Previous experience working with addiction recovery is helpful but not required
  • A passionate commitment to our faithbased treatment model

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:


  • 1. Manage Food & Beverage Service_
  • Maintain high cleaning standards
  • Maintain State and Health Department standards and permits
  • Enforce safety regulations
  • Ensure ADA compliance
  • Provide secure food service area
  • Plan all functions concerning food and beverage, including menus
  • 2. Manage Incoming & Outgoing Food Donations_
  • Receive, record, report and store all food, including donations
  • Oversee dispensing (donated / for sale) to other agencies
  • Receive, record and stock all USDA items
  • Develop new donor sources
  • 3. Ensure and supervise a Well-Trained Workforce_
  • Train, schedule and supervise volunteers and resident work crews
  • Coordinate with Program Staff to accommodate Program schedules
  • Ensure sufficient ServSafe certifications are earned and maintained
  • 4. Fiscal Management_
  • Prepare annual food/beverage service budget
  • Monthly monitoring and reporting of budget
  • Periodic forecasts of future expenses

EFFECT ON THE END RESULT
**This position ensures that all food and beverage services meet the nutritional and safety requirements of residents, staff, and homeless guests at the Mission, both on a day to day basis and for special events.
