Overview


The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance in maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting; ensuring acceptable levels of internal control; ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and The Beacon Hotel Standard Operating Procedures; and safeguarding owners/investors assets.

For this role, the emphasis is placed on the management of Payroll, Income Audit, and Accounts Receivable processing and collections.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Accounting
  • Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets, word processing, and in the operation of all hotelspecific systems.
  • Long hours are sometimes required.
  • Sedentary work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Beacon Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Beacon Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Monitor, prepare, and communicate financial reports in accordance with Beacon Hotel required due dates.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager/Assistant Director of Finance with Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable and General Cashier.
  • Review and approve the City Ledger transfers daily and communicate to supervisor any deviation from establish Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Handle customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner; provide customers with accurate invoices, statements and schedules.
  • Process credit card chargebacks.
  • Travel to hotel locations when needed.
  • If acting as General Cashier, prepare cash for each property and send it to the bank once a week for each property.
  • Prepare invoices received to send to Metriqe for processing all invoices.
  • Only emergency invoices will be processed on the property.
  • Maintain the General Cashier bank at each property, as required.
  • Count the operational department's banks monthly and note any discrepancies per Beacon Hotel SOP.
  • Gather statements and submit them to Metriqe for reconciliation. Contact vendors for missing invoices.
  • On a Weekly basis, print out the AP aging, and submit it to DOF for review with a list of vendors that need to be paid that week.
  • On a Weekly basis, cut checks/send out payments per DOF review.
  • Assist in the monthly close process by posting journal entries/balance sheet reconciliations that are related to daily/monthly responsibilities.
  • Preparation of any special reports, statements, etc as requested.
  • Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
