Job description
The VISTA Resource Development Specialist will strengthen the University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso by developing the systems that connect patients and community members to essential health and human services.
The member will research and document providers across the region, creating a searchable database that includes contact information, eligibility criteria, and service descriptions.
They will develop a comprehensive, user-friendly resource guide—available in both digital and print formats—and establish a shared repository where updated versions can be stored and accessed by staff.
To ensure patients can navigate services efficiently, the Specialist will design workflows and referral protocols that reduce barriers to care.
These processes will be documented in a navigation manual and integrated into patient care pathways through collaboration with hospital service lines.
The member will create integration checklists and training modules so departments can continue using and refining the guide after the VISTA term.
The Specialist will also develop sustainability measures, including an annual update calendar, assigned staff responsibilities, and a step-by-step update manual.
They will produce outreach materials—flyers, brochures, and digital posts—to raise awareness of the guide among patients, families, and community partners.
Staff training sessions will ensure that all departments understand how to use the guide, update the database, and apply navigation protocols.
Finally, the member will compile all manuals, templates, guides, and repositories into a centralized resource hub with clear instructions for updates.
By building these systems, the VISTA member will help reduce barriers to care, strengthen community connections, and expand access to services that improve health equity and long-term stability for low- to moderate-income residents of El Paso County.
