Job Summary:


A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) library media specialist facilitates library media or instructional technology programs as aligned to school and district priorities.

Promotes the use of multiple forms of media to support literacy development and leads students to become effective users of information and technology skills & tools necessary for college and career readiness.

Oversees the School Library Media Program in accordance with the MPS Information and Technology Strategic Plan. Offers an equitable, multi-cultural setting and teaches all children to think deeply, critically and creatively.

Qualifications:


To be considered, applicants must hold a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Library Media Specialist license, be enrolled in a library media specialist certification program, or have the ability to obtain this license by the start of the school year.

Pending graduates should include a letter from their educational institution documenting that they have met the requirements for graduation and school librarian certification.

As of November 1, 2021, all MPS employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. The health and safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.


Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule:


The Library Media Specialist salary range starts at $53,128.00 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching or library media specialist experience.
