Job Summary
Manager, Operations - Shuttle


The Shuttle Manager reports to the Operations Manager of Strategic Accounts and is responsible for leading a dedicated 24/7 shuttle which serves as the link between a local chemical producer in their facility and a dedicated warehouse for their product.

The Shuttle Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the shuttle team's daily activities, fleet equipment maintenance, DOT regulatory compliance, driver scheduling, and other administrative duties.

The Shuttle Manager is able to direct multiple employees in order to ensure adequate load coverage and maximize reactor up-time.

The Shuttle Manager also manages the Yard Mule Operators for both the warehouse and the In-Plant operations.

The Shuttle Manager will work directly with other departmental leaders within Quantix as needed to ensure the shuttle is adequately staffed at all times.

The Shuttle Manager will coordinate with other departmental leadership within Quantix to supplementing other transport/drayage/3PL operations with Shuttle Drivers when there is low workload for the shuttle, e.g.

plant turn arounds, reactor downtime, low production volumes.


Summary of essential job functions
This job includes the following duties and any other as assigned by their manager:


  • Provide inspired leadership for the organization.
  • Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
  • Maintain a high level of communication and rapport with employees, colleagues, company leadership, customer representatives, and local community
  • Provide the necessary planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control in the administration of daily shuttle drivers.
  • Assist in establishing measurable Quality goals for the shuttle team and track their success or failure.
  • Reviews policies and procedures to ensure optimal safety, quality, and productivity are achieved.
  • Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale
  • Responsible to the shuttle staffing, including but not limited to working with local driver agency and Quantix HR department for prescreening, hiring, onboarding, proper training on all relevant job duties, and integration of all new shuttle drivers
  • Schedules drivers according to plant production schedule
  • Develops continuous improvement program by monitoring shuttle data to optimize driver safety, reliability, and efficiency
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all shuttle fleet equipment, including but not limited to trucks, dryvans, chassis, ELD devices, yard mules, etc.
  • Ensures that shuttle operation is compliant with all company and government regulation including but not limited to any required permits, equipment inspections, driver credentials, etc.
  • Coordinates with Quantix Site Manager and Warehouse Operations management to ensure adequate shuttle coverage for the plant and ensure on time delivery and timely unloading at the warehouse
  • Coordinates internally with company leadership to ensure all resourcing requirements are met (staffing, equipment, maintenance support, etc.)
  • Coordinates with Quantix Transport, In-Plant, and 3PL divisions during reactor outages or low production rates to cover local work, such as port drays, to keep shuttle personnel and equipment gainfully employed
  • Conduct Safety and Quality audits at the frequency required by Quantix.
  • Assist with research of nonconformities as necessary in working with the quality department and helps to drive verification and validation of solutions.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed with availability to be on call as needed, due to the nature and criticality of this 24/7 operation.

Requirements:


Requirements:


  • Expert knowledge of DOT requirements, transport safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of Fleet Safety, to include Driver Hiring practices, preemployment Drug screens, background checks, pretrip/posttrip inspections and Levels of inspections on CMV
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management or related field or 4+ years equivalent experience in the Transportation/Distribution industry
  • 35 years leadership experience required
