Purpose:


The Life Enrichment Assistant aids the Life Enrichment Coordinator in our Health Care Center (HC) in caring for the recreational needs of the residents in accordance with the current federal, state, local, and facility standards, guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures.

As part of the Life Enrichment team, the main goal is to create and maintain social interactive opportunities for residents.

Healthcare Life Enrichment Coordinator


Primary Job Duties:


  • Sets up and leads scheduled life enrichment programming and activities in both small and large settings as scheduled by the Life Enrichment Coordinator, adapting or modifying programs to residents' physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Provides oversight during life enrichment programs and activities.
  • Assists resident(s) during virtual, window, and outdoor visits, encouraging and promoting contact between residents and family members when permissible.
  • Helps in creating activities and leading group and individual activities that are geared to residents with middle to late stages of dementia, and also for residents in short-term rehab or in isolation.
  • Documents residents' participation levels and attendance in accordance with state and federal regulations on Point Click Care.
  • Must successfully complete the "Feeding Assistance Program" to assist/feed residents in the Health Care Center dining rooms (including memory care).
  • Keeps privileged information about residents confidential according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Upholds Laurel View Village's Code of Conduct and follows Corporate Compliance guidelines per the LVV Employee Handbook.
  • Acts in a manner that ensures safety for self, residents, coworkers, and volunteers.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and calmness throughout the facility.
  • Courteously and clearly communicates with the general public, employees, and residents.
  • Works independently with direct or indirect supervision and be self-motivated, recognizing what needs to be done and doing it without being told.
  • Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
  • Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Coordinator.
  • Follows all local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess reading and writing ability to perform documentation duties.
  • Should possess prior work experience with working with senior adults in a Health Care/memory care setting.

Other Requirements:


  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with employees, residents, family members, community resources, visitors, and the public.
  • Must have knowledge or be willing to learn of the social, psychological, recreational, and spiritual needs of the aged.
  • Must learn how to lift, either one-on-one or with assistance from another employee, or assist with transporting residents to and from locations, and in and out of wheelchairs, chairs, recliners, etc.
  • Must have effective interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Needs a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to project cheerfulness and enthusiasm when conducting life enrichment programs and activities.
  • Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts.
  • Must sometimes use imagination, creativity, and concentration to understand those who have difficulty expressing themselves.

Equipment Used:

Telephone, iPads/tablets, Computer/Laptop, San Disk Music Players, Copy/Fax Machine, Facility Vehicles (4-8 passenger vans, auto, 14 passenger bus)


Working Conditions:


  • Work in well-lighted, well ventilated rooms, common areas, and halls. Protected from weather conditions. Work around odors.
  • Perform under stress. Must perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or potentially dangerous situations.
  • Rotating shifts between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. May be required to work beyond normal working hours when necessary.
