    Description


    AWS Industry Products (AIP) is an AWS engineering organization chartered to build new AWS products by applying Amazon's innovation mechanisms along with AWS digital technologies to real world industry problems.

    We dive deep with industry leaders to solve problems and unblock industries, enabling them to capitalize on new digital business models.

    We work closely with strategic customers to bring their domain expertise and our digital and innovation experience to solve industry-wide challenges on AWS.


    Globally, the power grid is undergoing rapid changes in demand for electricity driven by shifts to low-carbon technologies, such as electric vehicles (EV), behind-the-meter batteries, and renewable generation from solar and wind.

    Our team is working closely with customers to dynamically optimize power grids, and better integrate cleaner renewable sources of energy that reduce carbon emissions and curb climate change.

    We are passionate about delivering massive improvements to grid efficiency, reducing clean energy capital expenditures and consumer costs, and providing greener and more accessible energy world-wide.


    Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

    The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success.

    AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.


    Key job responsibilitiesAs a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will have a huge impact on everything from the functionality we deliver for our customers, to the design and architecture of our systems, to the algorithms we employ, to the culture we build.

    You will work closely with experienced leaders and engineers to develop new features and solutions that solve broader industry challenges.

    Some of the things you will get to do:


    • Solve some of the most challenging problems in the industry
    • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain software as part of a new AWS service
    • Mentor and grow other engineers
    • Collaborate with other AWS Service teams and customer technical leads

    Seattle, WA, USABASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering teamPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

    The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.

    Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

    Amazon is a total compensation company.

    Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
