    What We're Looking For:

    This opportunity involves overseeing a professional or technical discipline field department in developing and executing project tasks while ensuring effective management of scope, budget, and quality control. The role includes coordinating project priorities, staffing schedules, and assignments to guarantee clients have the necessary resources when needed. Additionally, the Department Manager will be involved in providing technical guidance and mentorship, ensuring efficient utilization of staff to deliver top-notch service. The typical number of employees supervised directly and indirectly by the Department Manager is between 15-20.

    What You'll Do:

    • Responsible for monitoring and managing the department's operating budget to align with the office budget and forecast updates.
    • Lead the growth and professional development of the discipline-specific engineering department, including coordinating activities, establishing priorities, and assigning staff to projects.
    • Support the implementation of strategic plans and processes for project pursuits, including strategic planning and contracting activities.
    • Assist in marketing efforts, client relations, and sales activities to foster departmental growth.
    • Oversee recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of department staff, while managing project management activities and performing technical discipline tasks.
    • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

    What You'll Need:

    • 14 years of relevant experience in lieu of education.

    What We Prefer:

    • 4 years of supervisory experience.
    • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
    • Experience as a Resident Engineer (RE).
    • Knowledge of LADOTD Specifications.
    • Experience with Alternative Delivery Projects (DB, PPP, CMAR).
    • Experience with LA Clients (LADOTD, CPRA, East Baton Rouge Parish, Ascension Parish, Jefferson Parish, Orleans Parish, NO DPW, USACE).
