Description
Insight Global is looking to hire a Secret Cleared AIX Subject Matter Expert, to sit fully remote, in support of a Federal client.
AIX 7. x and RHEL 6/7/8 server platforms supporting shared services (DNS, NFS, etc.) and multi-tiered applications.
We are looking for someone well versed in RHEL Server virtualization, orchestration/automation tools, scripting in multiple languages, and security best practices.
The candidate will be expected to have a general understanding large-scale data center design concepts and subsystems (i.e., storage, network, security, orchestration/automation, backup, disaster recovery) as they relate to integrating and operating RHEL and AIX Servers deployed across geographically dispersed private data centers and commercial public cloud platforms (such as AWS).
The candidate will join a team of Senior Linux/Unix engineers and work in a collaborative multi-functional team environment. Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA certifications are desired, but not required. A background in CentOS, Solaris 10/11, VMware 5. x/6. x, NetApp, EMC, and/or Oracle 10g/11g database systems is a plus, but not required.Develop plans and execute major upgrades and migrations applicable to AIX versions and Linux OS.
Perform routine administrative and maintenance functions (install, configure, patch, update, etc.) server platforms.
Perform security hardening and work with IA/C&A teams to conduct security scans/audits.
Troubleshoot server platforms in preproduction and production environments.
Monitor performance of remote and local systems to identify problems, and if needed, perform analysis to identify root cause of any performance issues and take appropriate corrective action to resolve issues.
Develop scripts to automate manual tasks.Work with application owners and infrastructure team members (network, storage, IA, etc.) to optimize system performance.
Evaluate, design, and test new cloud-based systems and solutions sets.
Participate in the development and maintenance of system lifecycle documentation.
Travel quarterly to Millington, TN.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science/Information Systems Technology plus 10 years IT experience or technical training in relevant enterprise hosting technology areas with 15 + years' experience.
Minimum 5+ years of experience with AIX 7. x systems administration from the command line interface (CLI) in a data center environment is required.5+ years of experience with RHEL 6/7/8 Unix/Linux systems administration from the command line interface (CLI) in a data center environment is required.
5+ years of experience working with Troubleshooting and managing IBM Power hardware.2+ years of experience with any of the following platforms: Apache webserver, Apache TomCat, JBOSS, PHP, MYSQL, DNS/BIND, Postfix, or Sendmail.
Understanding of Networking technologies and application of the OSI model.Working knowledge of version control software (svn, git).
Experience with Unix / Linux text editors (vim, emacs, nano).
Experience with RHEL6/7/8 industry standard security tools and techniques (STIG/SCAP, DIACAP/RMF).
General knowledge of IT management and monitoring tools.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-functional team environment.
Possess a strong drive for execution and completion.
Well versed in RHEL Server virtualization, orchestration/automation tools (IdM, Satellite, Puppet, Git, and Ansible Tower, etc.).
Scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, Ansible or Chef etc.).
General understanding large-scale data center design concepts and subsystems (i. e., storage, network, security, orchestration/automation, backup, disaster recovery).
Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA certifications desired.
Quarterly travel to Millington, TN required.
8570 compliance (Security and OS certification) required.
Active secret or higher government clearance required.
