RESPONSABILITIES AND MAIN TASKS
- Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets in the department, and supervise night warehouse operations. Plan and execute short/midterm department objectives. Take part in strategic planning by identifying mid and longterm strategies for the department. Guide management to bring about action towards desired goals.
- Lead with a safety-oriented mindset to ensure that every US Foods employee stays injury-free. Advocate for safety procedures, processes, and training to establish and maintain a safety-first culture in the warehouse.
- Mentor Warehouse Managers through personalized coaching, policy training, assistance in resolving issues, and setting a positive example.
- Supervise and develop all warehouse associates on the floor by reviewing performance with Warehouse Managers and creating improvement plans. Foster associate engagement and retention, cultivating a culture that reflects US Foods' values.
- Recruit talent and assemble high-performing teams. Forecast necessary headcount to sustain service levels, and oversee recruitment and interviewing processes.
- Strategize and implement technology enhancements in the functional area to enhance execution, productivity, and quality, while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Lead the development of production flow processes, identify process enhancements and cost-saving strategies with Sr. Warehouse Managers. Establish and adhere to operational procedures for activities such as verifying warehouse inventory accuracy and selecting and loading shipments.
- Monitor operational metrics, including inventory losses, production targets, and safety records. Identify issues, determine root causes, and suggest changes to the VP of Operations to achieve flawless accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure the integrity of products and compliance with food safety standards. Implement Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and guarantee adherence to MSS and FSQA requirements.
- Supervise the upkeep of the warehouse premises and equipment in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- In union facilities, collaborate with HR and the VP of Operations to interpret the collective bargaining agreement, implement appropriate discipline, resolve minor conflicts, and participate in arbitrations as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
MANAGEMENT:
- Direct: Warehouse Managers, union and/or nonunion warehouse clerical staff (Operations Clerks, Warehouse Clerks, Will Call Clerks, Slotting Clerks, Truck Builders, etc.)
- Indirect: Union and/or nonunion warehouse floor associates (Loaders, Selectors, Receivers, Forklift drivers, etc.)
RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal: Warehouse leaders and colleagues; VP Operations; Transportation leaders; Internal stakeholders from various departments (e.g., Sales)
- External: Suppliers, clients
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is conducted in standard warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer areas with temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Experience/Requirements:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in warehouse management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and personnel development abilities.
- Effective and open communication with all associates/departments within the organization.
- Knowledge of inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory standards.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control systems is advantageous.
Travel
- Mandatory 10% travel for essential meetings and/or training sessions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses/Certifications
- HACCP certification is a plus.
- PCQI certification is a plus.
