    Minimum Salary:
    $31,620 per year, USC Aiken Business Services


    As Bursar's Office cashier, the employee serves students, departments, and other internal and external constituencies by processing payments, deposits, advance reimbursements, and other financial transactions while maintaining accuracy and consistency, and always providing excellent customer service.

    Employee should have considerable knowledge of office procedures and must be able to communicate effectively - verbally and in writing.

    Employee must have the ability to perform cash handling duties with complete accuracy.


    Minimum Requirements:
    High school diploma and 1 year of clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience


    Preferred:
    Banking/Teller/Cashier experience; Customer service experience highly preferred with a record of proven quality of service provided in an office environment with multiple distractions, interruptions, and repetitive tasks

    Job Duties

    Job Duty

    Verify and accurately enter payments to student accounts received from individuals, departments, and organizations via mail and/or in person.

    Employee should consistently offer quality customer service while also maintaining an awareness of customer presence and volume in order to most effectively and efficiently service those who are waiting in line for assistance.

    Employee should always verify cash being disbursed and collected to ensure no cash outages are recorded/reported. Reports cash outages to the attention of the Director immediately.

    Collect, verify, balance, and secure cash daily. Prepare the daily cashier deposit reconciliation/balancing and summaries throughout the day for all payment types received.

    Identify and research all transactions to process transactions more accurately and efficiently; as time allows, employee should perform trial balances throughout the day to ensure there are no outages and/or discrepancies in cash or other payment items.

    Verify and enter departmental deposits received daily to the correct university accounts.

    Employee should prioritize, recognize, and monitor the volume of daily work received via mail and in person to ensure expeditious processing throughout the day to avoid delays in posting so to meet payment and month end deadlines; without compromising accuracy.

    Assists students and/or authorized users with their accounts by researching account information to assist/or advise, regarding balances due, charge detail, payment plans, refunds, and other account activity.

    Positively approach interaction with a diverse volume of students, staff, and the public.

    Assist with distribution of receipt books for departments - ensuring complete and accurate information is provided on the sign-out log for each person.

    Accurately logs, distributes, and receipts in admission tickets for the athletic department.

    Assist customers by guiding them to the correct area based on their particular needs. Employee should acknowledge customers as they enter the office and always maintain professionalism.

    Notify director regarding, any system issues, supply needs, and other customer service matters as appropriate.

    Answer office phone and respond to voicemails and office emails promptly and efficiently. File daily deposit transmittals, and other receipting documents each day. Assist with ensuring cashier area remains organized, stocked, and clean. Other duties as assigned.
