Job Description


Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) is responsible for managing the studio's Film and TV transactional business (Electronic Sell-Through and Video-On-Demand) across all distribution platforms.

The primary role of the Director of Business Development will be to negotiate and manage the commercial deals for existing and new distribution partners.

In addition, the position will be responsible for helping drive overall commercial strategy and new business development initiatives.

This position works in close partnership with the Account Management, Operations, and Marketing teams to drive a coordinated approach to the market.

Responsibilities

Negotiate and oversee commercial deals with new and existing distribution partners: cable, satellite, telco, hotel, digital platforms
Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners
Provide analysis to business development team on deal terms and commercial strategies
Foster cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Account Management, Operations, Servicing, Marketing, Technology, and Finance teams to execute partnership requirements and deliver on business objectives

Basic Requirements

Bachelor's degree required
5+ years of experience working in business development, strategy or content distribution
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for reviewing, understanding, negotiating, and communicating complex deal structures
Ability to maintain balance between building strong customer relationships and engaging in challenging and complicated contract negotiations
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize appropriately
Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with other functional groups
Exceptional public speaking skills; comfortable presenting to senior management

Desired Characteristics

MBA or graduate degree in a related field strongly preferred
Passion for emerging technologies and an ability to understand impacts on existing businesses

Hybrid:

This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week.

The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range:
$140,000 - $160,000 (bonus & LTI Eligible).
