Purpose/Introduction:

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Licensing Manager to join our Technology Licensing organization.

The position is based at CPChem's Research & Technology Center in Kingwood, Texas, and reports to the General Manager of Licensing.

CPChem's Licensing Group includes 5 professionals with a broad range of backgrounds and experience. #HPCP


Responsibilities:


  • Identification, assessment, development and maintenance of selective licensing and catalyst global supply opportunities. Involves business development and contract negotiations for related transactions at the point of sale and during the life of the contract.
  • Facilitating deployment of technical resources in support of the operations and continuous improvement efforts of Licensees and JV's, including ongoing implementation steps for current license projects around the world.
  • Planning, coordinating and participating in biennial Technical Exchange Conferences for proprietary technologies.
  • Serving as a technology transfer liaison within R&T and across CPChem functions including the businesses, plants, IP Legal, Tax, Global Procurement, Finance/Accounting, Treasury, Compliance, etc.
  • Leading and/or supporting the development, commercialization, sale, and security of supply of CPChem's proprietary catalyst components associated with our technologies.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, polymer science or chemistry.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a technical, commercial or licensing role in the petrochemical industry or a closely related field leading and or providing support to internal and external customers.
  • Strong commitment to personal safety, operations, and the safety and wellbeing of our suppliers, partners, customers, and licensees.
  • Understanding of intellectual property management principles, including effective management of both internal and external confidentiality obligations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with Businesses, Global Process Engineering, Legal, Tax, Finance, Global Procurement and R&D to identify, assess, develop and maintain selective licensing and catalyst supply opportunities.
  • Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with clients, suppliers and business partners including effective communication in both technical and nontechnical business environments.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion including the ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals from other cultures and societies.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a fastpaced environment, to effectively multitask and to quickly adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Selfstarter with proven ability to function autonomously and to identify opportunities where value can be provided even if outside their standard roles and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced Degree(s) (MS, PhD, JD) in related field(s).
  • International business and crosscultural experience.
  • Direct experience with polyolefin and olefin derivative technologies.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating technical and commercial agreements.
  • Experience interacting effectively with international partners, customers/clients, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated capability in intellectual property management and IP strategy development as well as effective management of both internal and external confidentiality obligations.
