Job Title: Staff Accountant at TechTown Detroit

About the Opportunity
TechTown Detroit is looking for a detail-oriented staff accountant to collaborate closely with the Controller in managing financial records for TechTown Detroit and Tech One Holding.

The Impact You Will Make

Disbursements and Receipts Management:

Administer the Accounts Payable system (AP).
Assist departments with documentation and invoice processing.
Manage 1099 contractor administration.
Ensure synchronization between AP system and the general ledger.

Credit Card Software Management:

Oversee Bill Spend and Expense platform.
Provide training and support to cardholders.
Review expenditure classifications and credit limits.

Payroll and Journal Entries:

Post bi-weekly payroll and allocation journal entries.
Coordinate with HR on payroll and benefit expenses.

Reconciliations:

Prepare monthly bank account and investment reconciliations.
Reconcile intercompany transactions and fixed asset accounts.

Budget Preparation and Management

Collaborate with TechTown Detroit staff on budget preparation and amendments.
Enter budget data into the system and prepare analysis documents.
Assist in grant compliance submissions.

Internal Controls and Documentation

Ensure compliance with audit and internal control policies.
Review budgets and spending with the Controller and staff.
Support the development and maintenance of internal controls.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting.
5-10 years of nonprofit accounting experience.
Entrepreneurial mindset with leadership skills.
Passion for supporting TechTown Detroit's vision.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, or similar software.

Salary
The budgeted salary for this role starts at $60,000 and can be adjusted based on qualifications.
