Overview:
Operating safely is critical to the success of CAES. Our San Diego facility is seeking an EHS Technician to provide operational and administrative support to our EHS program.

You can expect to carry out basic inspections and tests of safety and workplace hazard monitoring equipment and systems; escalating for resolution when you discover an issue or hazard.

Responsibilities:


  • Supports the EHS team in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of CAES Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors environmental compliance issues and provides assistance with workplace safety matters. Performs and/or oversees environmental monitoring for facility discharges, storm water management and other environmental related permits. Performs routine industrial and hazardous waste management activities such as waste inventories, vendor scheduling and waste haul oversight, and manifest tracking and filing.
  • Implements corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
  • Maintains EHS files and records including waste manifests and Hazardous Waste Tank System inspections.
  • Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Attends meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • May respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
  • Giving support to lab and manufacturing areas where specific hazardous materials training is needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum:


  • High School diploma or accredited GED
  • 1+ years' experience in EHS
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:


  • Two or more years EHS technician related experience
  • AA or AS in Environmental Technology or related field
  • RCRA Certification
  • OSHA 10 hour or 30 hour Certification
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER
  • Forklift experience
  • Pursuing coursework for a degree in Occupational, Safety and Health or other Science based program, strongly preferred
  • Waste water license
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Computer skills in database maintenance
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Pay Range:
$21 - $37 hourly
(San Diego).
