Control & Instrumentation Specialist

Provide daily support to Process Engineering, Operations and Maintenance which includes leading control systems and instrument activities, ensuring hardware and software platforms are operating at high reliability levels and supporting operations during troubleshooting, upsets or emergencies.

Provide support for specification, design, purchase, installation and commissioning of instrumentation, control systems and SIS systems for projects to maintain or improve plant safety, profitability, efficiency and reliability.

Your scope of responsibility
Support maintenance plant control systems such as Yokogawa DCS and multiple manufacturer PLCs.
Support instrument field devices and analyzers of the plant.

Development and maintain configuration and graphics interfaces of the various plant control systems in support of plant operations and projects.

Troubleshoot instrument problems for Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering departments as requested.
Must be available for emergency callouts via phone/in person to support plant operations from an instrumentation standpoint.
Confer with engineers, operations personnel, maintenance personnel and others to discuss I/E maintenance problems and implement appropriate solutions.
Assist with development of instrument and control systems MOCs and other upgrade projects.
Direct or coordinate construction, maintenance, documentation or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes or customer requirements.
Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
Interface, plan and supervise the work of instrumentation contractors and system integrators as requested.
Oversee project efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform required tasks.
Present a professional image to clients and vendors at all times and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.

Identify and stop work in progress or make appropriate notifications when unsafe conditions exist or requirements are not being met.

Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
Attend training sessions to maintain or improve knowledge of instrumentation, control systems and/or process technology.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What you bring to OCI
Education, Experience, and/or Training
5+ yrs. Experience in all phases of instrument installation and maintenance in the chemical or oil/energy industry required.
Experience in the methanol and ammonia processes is preferred.
ASS Technology degree or equivalent required.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Experience with PLC and DCS required, preferably Allen Bradley and Yokogawa DCS.
